The Savannah Cat is the result of crossing the African Serval to a domestic cat. Savannahs are very intelligent, active and very doglike in behavior. They love to get up in high places and really bond to their owners. The Savannah Cat is larger than a domestic but smaller than the African Serval. Many states require permits in order to own a Serval and some don't even allow them with permits, so this is a way to have an exotic looking domestic cat as a pet. The first three generations (f-1, f-2, and f-3) males are all sterile and need to be neutered and they make great companions. The Savannah is a new breed and there are very few in the world today. |
